Helpless to Hopeful:

Tools for Emotional Health in Trying Times

Is your community worried, stressed, scared, or paralyzed by anger? Do they want to make the world a better place but feel overwhelmed in the face of the number and magnitude of problems they can’t solve? Do they feel alone and isolated in the struggle to meet their own or loved ones’ needs in the face of systems or people that feel hostile and unsupportive?

It doesn’t have to stay that way.

It’s time to get unstuck, feel nourished and grounded, find clarity about what is most important, connect with community, tap into joy and resolve, and direct passion and dedication into sustainable action for the long haul.

1.5 hour, virtual or in person

Infographic titled "Helpless to Hopeful: Tools for Emotional Health in Trying Times," listing steps for making a shift: 1) Validate, 2) Connect with your body, 3) Nurture, 4) Orient, 5) Move, 6) Connect with your values, 7) Set intentions, 8) Take action. Encourages seeking help if needed.

Includes printable workbook so participants can follow along and have a reference to help themselves the next time they feel stuck or overwhelmed

During this 90 minute workshop, participants are invited to follow an 8 step compassion fueled process to shift from overwhelm or feeling stuck, through connection with their own bodies, the community, and their values, and into feeling resourced to set intentions and take meaningful action for themselves, their loved ones, and to build the world they want to live in.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Validate and understand the worries, fears, or feelings causing their overwhelm

  • Connect with their body sensations and regulate their nervous systems

  • Resource themselves for greater resiliency

  • Orient to safety, agency, and community

  • Release the activated fight/flight energy in their bodies

  • Get clear on and grounded in their most deeply held values

  • Set intentions for how to show up for themselves, their important people, and the world

What People Are Saying

  • Anonymous Participant

I've experienced workshops that were too much or not enough, this was just right. We worked through a lot but it was digestible and I feel like I have great resources for the future.

  • Elspeth, Colorado

The workshop exercises helped me learn grounding techniques which I found helpful in the week following the workshop. I was able to relocate myself in my surroundings and regain control when panic was taking over. This was a big positive step for me.

  • Robyn, Tennesee

I found the meeting productive and calming. And Jen's voice is soothing and reassuring.  It helped me so much just knowing I wasn't alone.

Major props to Jen for having such a calming presence leading this workshop. I didn't realize how anxious I was until they started talking us through the freeze response, and especially now this exercise. I really needed this today.

Thank you, Jen, and EVERYONE here today for this community building and exercise in self-care. I have a newfound albeit bittersweet hope after this.
